I grew up in Arizona, loving the sunshine, my family, animals and the colors of the world around me. I spent a lot of time outdoors. "You are a natural fly-fisherwoman," said my dad. |

In between fishing trips, tennis and writing fiction stories, I drew portraits. I don't know why. Faces interested me, because they each told a story. However, I kept my drawings (such as this self-portrait at age 14) in the closet. |

Struggling to find the meaning of life, I immersed myself in deep, dark 19th-century Russian literature, but I didn't like what I found. I said goodbye to academia after a half-dozen years studying for a never-earned PhD. |

"If only I could be as happy as my animals..." But wait -- I suddenly discovered that I could! A big life-change took place as I made my way back to Arizona and into the world of nonprofits and foundations. |

Life got even better with Randy, who has supported me wholeheartedly as I finally dragged my portraits out of the closet and started earnestly applying myself to perfecting my skills. |
