About Me
I am an Arizona native and I have a passion for causes that positively impact children, animals and the arts.
Prior to starting my own consulting business in 2006, I served as Communications & Membership Director for the Arizona Grantmakers Forum from 2005-2006, and Associate Director of a private foundation, Social Venture Partners Arizona (SVP Arizona) from 2000-2005. At SVP Arizona, I facilitated mutliple grant review cycles, directed volunteer activity, created internal tracking systems and developed a nonprofit capacity assessment tool currently used by over a dozen Social Venture Partner affiliates across the US and Canada.
Prior to my involvement in the nonprofit sector, I worked in the Software and Semiconductor industries as Director of Operations at KLA-TENCOR CORP/FINLE TECHNOLOGIES and Focus Systems, Inc. in Austin, Texas. At these positions, I implemented quality assurance procedures, maintained MS Access and Oracle 10.7 database systems, developed strategic marketing plans, business plans, grant proposals, marketing collateral, and presentations. I also coordinated company presence at national trade shows, performed live and on-line product demos, facilitated closure of sales, and led on-site training sessions at client sites nationwide.
I hold a BA and MA in Russian Literature from the University of Arizona. I completed coursework towards a PhD in Russian Literature from the University of Texas at Austin from 1993-1999, with an emphasis on 19th century Russian women writers. I have published an article on Avdot'ia Iakovlevna Panaeva in the Dictionary of Literary Biography, Vol 238: Russian Novelists in the Age of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky (Bruccoli Clark Layman, 2001).
